Using your own hand lettering with a Cricut machine

I have been working on improving my hand lettering lately, one of my resolutions to complete as fall begins before the whirlwind of the holiday season to end this year. In a few simple steps you can take your hand lettering and upload it into design space, size and cut, and you can easily create a new project.

Items needed:
  • Ipad
  • Apple pencil
  • Design space IOS app
  • Procreate app

To create this project I used an iPad and the procreate app, to hand letter my name. You could also use a piece of paper and scan the image into your computer. On procreate once image is created, click the icon that looks like a wrench and click png. You can save the image to your device, by clicking save image (this will send the image to your photos). Open design space and open a new project. At the bottom of the click upload and either select from photos, or if image was scanned into the computer go to where the image was saved. Once image is on the canvas in design space. Next you want to clean up the background of the image to prepare for cutting.

Click remove and click/tap anywhere in the background area to delete the background. When everything is deleted in the preview window it will show only the image to cut. Once complete, click next to smooth or despeckle your image, then click next, name image and select save as cut image. Now you can go to your uploads and select your image to send to the canvas to size and cut.

This is so easy to do and so much fun to see your image cut in whatever material you would like.  I love having the ability to create unique hand lettered designs that I can incorporate into my projects and with design space, and the Cricut machine it makes it so easy to complete.
