Cricut has a new vinyl and it’s amazing!! It will be coming to your local Michaels store, but for now it is available for $6.99 a roll at cricut.com. So far it has a small variety of colors, but I’m sure more colors will be released soon. It is a 12×48 inch roll with a nice smooth, high gloss, finish on regular colors, on the gold however it’s more of a soft sheen with a pearl essence finish that’s really pretty in person. On cricut.com it states this vinyl will last for 3 years, is water resistant (also stated in a video that it can withstand the dishwasher, which I will be testing), and UV resistant. This vinyl lays flat on your surface for easy cutting with no curling, or bubbling, (some types can separate from the backing), this one lays flat on your mat as well. I tested this vinyl with an image cut from Cricut Design Space (available for purchase) on a plain white mug. This vinyl cuts beautifully with crisp cut edges, and weeds with ease. Using this with the clear cricut transfer tape with grid lines, it picks up this vinyl with no resistance, and releases perfectly onto your project, with no residue.
Some other types, and brands, tend to need quite a bit of burnishing and pressing to adhere to the transfer tape and then to release onto your project, not at all with this vinyl. The colors are stunning and it has a good weight to it which will make it very durable, and should last for the duration of the estimated time suggested by Cricut. I love this product, and all the colors available, this will be my new favorite for permanent vinyl. I will update when I have given the vinyl time to cure and tested it in the dishwasher.
*Update* I am happy to report that this was washed in the dishwasher 25 times and it still looks brand new! This vinyl can give you the confidence to give someone a gift that will last, and last. *I was not paid for this, my opinions are my own for information purposes*.
