Cricut access, What is it, and Why it’s worth it!

Cricut access, what is it, and why it’s worth it! Let’s dive right in and first off discuss what  Cricut access is. When you use your Cricut explore machines (these include the original explore, explore one, explore air, and explore air 2), and the Cricut maker machine to connect and cut through design space there is a vast library of images, and fonts, and (on the computer version) patterns to choose from. On the main page there are pre-designed, ready to cut projects that are included in Cricut access and others available as a separate purchase. A new feature of the ready made projects is called community, these are projects made by crafters just like you, at all experience levels, and anyone can share a project in a few, short steps.

Cricut access in the basic definition, is a subscription, if you decide later to cancel, you would only own the content that you have previously purchased, or that has been designated free (for example content that came with your machine, that is yours to keep). It’s just like all the streaming services we all know and love, and can’t live without, (yes I’ll admit it), we don’t OWN all of the content we watch, but we subscribe to have access to as much as we want, when we want. It’s the same concept for Cricut access, depending on which access subscription you choose (based on what you might use it for most). The one exception is with licensed fonts, and images, these are not included in any of the cricut access memberships, but are available for a separate purchase, and once purchased they are yours to keep, even if you decide to cancel cricut access.

There are three membership types for cricut access, the font membership is the cheapest at $4.99/month (if billed annually) or $6.99 billed monthly. It gives you access to over 400 fonts, and you will be able to talk to someone quicker if you have issues, with the priority member care phone line, exclusive to Cricut access members.

The Standard membership is $7.99/month (if billed annually), or $9.99 billed monthly. You receive the same access to the priority member care phone line, the over 400 fonts, and access to over 30,000 images in design space. Extra perks are a 10% savings on licensed fonts, images, and ready made projects, along with 10% on purchases on the cricut site.

The Premium membership is only available for annual billing for roughly $120 which works out to about $9.99/month. You get everything in the Standard membership plus, up to 50% off of non-licensed images, fonts, and ready made projects, plus free shipping on cricut site orders over $50.

Keep in mind that you do not need cricut access to use your machine, but with all the extra benefits gained with cricut access it really pays for itself. One last benefit is once a week images that usually are not part of cricut access are available for one week to cut, and if you choose later, the content can be purchased separately after the week to add to your owned content.

For myself, the best overall value is the Premium membership, it comes out to the same price of the Standard membership (if standard is billed monthly), but with the extra savings of free shipping, and 50% off of non licensed images/fonts, with this added benefit, it will pay for itself in a short time. I love having the vast amount of content available anytime, and having the ability to test drive content with Cricut access, that way I can get an idea of content I really enjoy, even though I do create my own content. It would cost so much more to buy all of the content individually or even just by cartridge, when it’s already included in the Cricut access membership.  The library of images, fonts, and patterns grows all the time which makes it an even better value. I love having the option of creating my own content and cutting it, while having the option to be inspired by new content, and to make something right from design space with Cricut access. With so many options you will never run out of things to cut or create. Give it a try, with the standard or fonts Cricut access memberships ability to bill monthly, you can try it out and see if it’s right for you.
