A quick way to dress up your holiday buffalo plaid table setting with an iron on design. This is such a fun and easy way to quickly add a unique touch to your holiday decor.
Items needed:
- Buffalo plaid placemats
- Glitter iron on
- An easy press
- Easy press mat
- Weeding tool
- Cricut Explore series machine/Cricut Maker
- A cutting mat
Cut design:
You will need to click the link above to open the project. I have this project sized at 5.2×6 inches, but you can size it however you like, depending on placement. Once you have the project open, click, make it and send it to the mat, making sure you mirror image before cutting. I select glitter iron on from the menu, (if using an explore series machine), turn your dial to custom, to see the other settings. To complete the cut, follow the prompts on the screen and cut design.
Weed design:
When I remove the design off the mat, I then use the weeding tool to catch the edge of excess material and pull away. This will leave just the design attached to the carrier sheet. I will use the weeding tool to remove all the tiny pieces from the inside of the snowflakes, and the center of the letters.
Press design:
I Preheat Easypress to 315 degrees for 30 seconds. I like that is only takes just under a minute with the 6×7 easypress 2, so I turn it on as I am almost done with weeding. The easy press will beep signaling that it is up to temperature and ready for use. I preheat the placemat for about 5 seconds to remove any moisture from the fabric and remove wrinkles. I find that this is a step not to skip as it helps for proper adhesion of the iron on material.
Next, place your design in desired place, I chose bottom righthand corner. Place the easy press over design and with light pressure, hold in place after clicking green button to start countdown. Finally the easy press will beep signaling the time is completed, and then return easy press to it’s base. Then I turn over the placemat and press again for 15 seconds, then flip over, when it is mostly cooled remove carrier sheet.
I love how quickly and easily I can make something special for the holidays or any day. It makes the ordinary, extraordinary. Finishing a fun and quick project that you could even do this last minute for your holiday celebration.
